Flash back to 2009, and a mournful intro, perhaps foreshadowing events yet to come, sets the tone of
D-Sisive's debut full-length release Let The Children Die. The highly anticipated record was set to
re-launch the Toronto based rapper back into the Canadian hip-hop scene after spending much of the 2000's in relative obscurity.
Released to critical acclaim including a Socan Award and a Polaris Prize nomination, D-Sisive, on the verge of hip hop stardom, was forced to pull the record from shelves due to legal issues stemming from an uncleared sample. Despite this devastating blow, thanks to the Internet, the record soon found a life of its own online; through blogs, downloading and the Toronto emcee's loyal online fan base. Let The
Children Die is now a much beloved underground hip-hop release.
Flash forward to the present, with two more full-length records under his belt, Jonestown, and this year’s Vaudeville, D-Sisive is ready to revisit the past and lay it to rest, with a special one-off performance billed as D-Sisive Presents…Let The Children Die: The Funeral at The Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto.
Let The Children Die: The Funeral will be a performance of the entire album from start to finish, backed by a ten-piece band, KC Roberts and the Live Revolution. 100% live, no samples.
The show will be filmed for a live DVD release, to accompany an upcoming documentary about the
album, and to refresh everyone’s memory before the show, D-Sisive is offering a free download of the record in full from the following link: http://www.box.net/shared/ydsd4vlfna
This is one not to be missed.
